A new altar for our Orphanage
I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Apocalypse 21:2
February 11, 2020 must be reckoned as one of the most memorable days in the annals of our little orphanage. It is a day chosen by Divine Providence to shower upon some of His choicest blessings, through the hands of the Immaculata, no doubt. It was also the feast of Our Lady’s apparition to St. Bernadette.
From all Our Lady’s apparitions during the last century, we must conclude that Our Lady wants to give our modern world a special message: in each case she insistently asks that we should pray and do penance for sinners. It is God’s unfathomable mystery, how in the accomplishment of the work of our salvation, He designs to use the ministry of His Holy Mother, also our mother to help us and to save us from peril.
On her feast day, we had the tremendous joy of blessing of our new altar at the Orphanage. For years we were waiting for a proper altar and we finally have one. For more than two weeks, we were kept busy in gilding the altar and it was finally made ready just in time. Our sisters did a wonderful job of embroidering two adoring Angels on the inside door of the tabernacle. Everything was glorious and a fitting place for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Rev. Fr. Therasian solemnly blessed the altar and offered the Mass immediately after the blessing.
We also had the joy of receiving four new members into our thriving little congregation for our girls, the Children of Mary. They received a new cloak, medal and the ‘rules’ book. Our joy was complete. We prayed compline in the presence of Our Beloved Spouse now reigning in His new abode. Perhaps it is not the best place He can find upon earth, but it is the best we could offer, after offering our hearts and lives for him.
Just as in Lourdes, may the Blessed Virgin Mary lead all her children to approach her, either back to Jesus or closer to Him. Her call to prayer, penance and repentance are to be fulfilled in this august place.
We thank and praise the Divine Goodness and Mercy for all the graces we have received.
Deo Gratias et Mariae!
