Ordinations on 15 August at Holy Cross

Concluding a two week stay in the District of Australia and New Zealand, His Lordship Bishop Tissier de Mallerais traveled to Goulburn for the annual ordination ceremony at Holy Cross on the feast of the Assumption. Seminarians in four different years of formation received tonsure or one of the orders. Most notably, Rev Mr John Mwangi of Kenya took the step into major orders, receiving the subdiaconate (See Subdiaconate photos) . Now that Holy Cross has a seminarian in major orders, there will be many more opportunities for celebrating a Solemn High Mass than existed previously in the academic year.

His Lordship conferred the minor orders of exorcist and acolyte on Mr Martin Anozie of Nigeria and those of porter and lector on Mr Daniel Yagan and Mr Cyril Alolaya of the Philippines, and Mr Joseph Manyeki of Kenya (See Minor Orders photos). Finally, three seminarians entered the clerical state through tonsure: Pius Kim of South Korea, Mikhail Del Rosario of New Zealand, and Phillip Mujic of Australia (See Clerical Tonsure photos).

Bishop Tissier, in his sermon, spoke of the privileges of Our Lady and the need for the ordinands to make reparation for the crimes against the Immaculate Heart and to fight on her behalf against her enemies. To listen to this sermon, click on this link.
