Society of St. Pius X: Priestly Ordinations in Germany

On Saturday, July 1, 2017, Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais ordained two priests for the Society of Saint Pius X. The pontifical ordination Mass was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Zaitzkofen, Bavaria. In the presence of nearly 2,000 faithful, the French bishop imposed his hands upon a German and a Czech who had reached the end of their six years of formation, study, and spiritual preparation. 69 priests in all came to assist at the magnificent ceremony.
In his sermon, Bishop Tissier recalled that the Catholic priest is a sanctifier, minister, and dispenser. He offers the perfect sacrifice that accomplishes all justice and all mercy. He acts in the name of Christ, whose chosen instrument he is. He distributes divine graces to men, to draw them out of sin and lead them to Heaven.
At the end of the three-hour ceremony, the priests, religious, seminarians, and faithful all enjoyed the Bavarian festivities, complete with traditional Moravian costumes and music.
The next day, the new priests celebrated their first Mass at the seminary, in the presence of a large number of faithful who had come to assist at the beginning of the newly ordained men’s priesthood.
